Mission 5

Interview Appreciation: The Missionary

The air conditioner in my house is on and the room temperature is 24 degrees.

Teacher Dong was talking to me slowly and calmly: "When I first went abroad and came to this new environment, I did all kinds of jobs in the first five years. I did it: delivering takeout, washing dishes, porter, watching stalls, taking care of the elderly, butcher shop assistant, grocery store, cleaner, etc. In order to increase income, sometimes I even worked three jobs at the same time.

I feel like I am "reborn" and "starting a new life". In a foreign society, I am struggling for survival and study. And my dream has been supporting me all the time!

So it can be said that during the years I was abroad, I lost the opportunity to make money in China..."

When I heard this, I thought to myself, "Another crappy money-loving artist. I just can't understand, are artists born for money?"

Yes, in this era, some singers can earn so much money just by singing a few songs, so some people can squander money in society and live a decadent life. Society still sighs about this!

It seems that art still needs to be purified!

But before I could curse him out loud, he unexpectedly blurted out a Chinese-style "but". I didn't expect what he said next made me shrink back the word "bullshit". It turns out he is such a person!

He told me: "No! I know God here, I get the free air, and in return I get the spirit of democracy. These are more important than money! They are the most valuable things in life."

It was this sentence that made me immediately feel that his ideological realm was quite lofty. It turned out that he was my type, and I almost underestimated him by mistake.

Yes, he came to my house today. From what I saw, the total value of his clothes was probably only 40 US dollars. He had no brand name clothes. Only the pale yellow bag he carried with him showed that he was an outsider. In appearance, he was indeed very simple, not exaggerated!

I suddenly thought of something and started to ask him, "Why did you think of coming to my house today?"

The lady sitting next to me, who came with me today, rushed to answer and said, "Teacher Dong is my son's teacher. I told him about you! I introduced you--"

At this time, I interrupted her and turned to ask her: "Has your son arrived? Is he okay?" I knew that these two sentences were all nonsense. Since her arrival today, I couldn't restrain myself and wanted to say to her what I really wanted to say: "Your son is unbelievable. How can he be so mature at such a young age... a strange man, a strange man!"

At this time, Teacher Dong also said: "Yes! I think so too, it's incredible, this is the type I like!"

With these few words, Teacher Dong once again revealed some of his personality, character, and world views in front of me.

Now I will bring out the shocking aspects of this wonderful child in my mind! Let us also see what kind of students Teacher Dong likes to accept, and let everyone know how Teacher Dong is a teacher now that he is a teacher. This student is his best mirror!

For the lady who brought Teacher Dong here today, I will now use modern (big) data (time concept) to introduce her!

In the past month and a half, I met several guests from Hunan. Their elite character was simply intimidating to me!

One of them was Mr. Zeng, who made 3D machines. When I first started interacting with him, we only lasted four hours at most, and we only spoke to each other for less than twenty sentences!

Three days later, he brought a couple from his hometown. The man was an electrical engineer who had returned from Germany, and the woman was a lawyer. (The lady I met today) They came to my house and only sat for two hours. This time, the parent mentioned that he had a little boy at home, who was now studying in a foreign country alone in the third year of junior high school. For some reason, he said something like a graduate student in political economics at Harvard University! He was at home during the summer vacation. When I heard about it, I felt very vivid. Isn't this the same as the few children that Teacher Niu Niu introduced to me? Is it even more strange? I said casually that we can meet each other if we have a chance!

A week later, I stayed with these two Hunan men in a five-star hotel in Kunshan for one night. Our contact during the whole process was no more than 12 hours! Then we came back and said goodbye.

A week later, the boy's father said he would send me some Nanhui peaches and brought his son with him!

Good! This is our first meeting!

When he saw me, he showed a reserved attitude, and didn't say a word or pay any attention to me, but he listened to me!

I heard from his father that this kid has a very strong personality. He has to choose the teacher to teach him, otherwise he won’t want to learn. He wants to learn logical mathematics, not computational mathematics. (This is the same as Taotao here.) So his father chose the best overseas returnee mathematics professor from East China University of Science and Technology to teach him a special math class! Then I was thinking, what kind of class can I, an 80-year-old man, teach him today?

Of course at the end of the day, in the words of his father, his heart knot was somewhat untied, he left with a smile, and I gave him a mission to complete when he returned to school this time!

Later, his mother sent me a text message on her mobile phone, telling me that her son's incredible deeds were like the reincarnation of Qu Yuan from the ancient Chu State. What he said at home seemed to be: Li Sao is like leaving sorrow!

Her original text reads:

"Hello, Mr. Yin

Yang Jingtian just cried bitterly, he said:

People were dying in China xx years ago, and they were still dying xx years ago. He cried for this, for China, for his relatives and friends, and for his inability to change...

Master Yin, this child has always been compassionate and concerned about his country and people. He has shouldered a heavy ideological burden and has a thorough understanding of problems beyond his age. I don’t know how to help him.”

A few days later, her mother sent me another short message:

"Yang Jingtian has arrived in the United States. Thank you for your teachings. I hope he will always have the honor of listening to your teachings."

Haha, the child’s mother is here today, and the teacher of the child’s course is also sitting here. I heard that this teacher is a teacher he likes very much. Doesn’t that tell me what kind of person this teacher is?

The teacher just now also said that this child’s maturity is far beyond expectations!

The teacher who said this was born in 1974 and I was born in 1980. As for facing a 14-year-old child, I believe we should have no problem in recognition ability!

I used the time data to calculate above. From the beginning to the end, from the time I met this group of Hunan friends to the time I met Mr. Dong, it was less than two months in total. However, we both seemed to feel that we met too late!

It seems that I am writing about students and teachers in this article, but in fact I am accidentally trying to interpret two sentences in Mr. Zhang's poems. Can I use it to predict the future?

"A famous teacher sows new green seedlings, and his disciples blossom and bear golden fruits."
