Dong Rongcan graduated from the Piano Department and Composition Department of Shanghai Conservatory of Music and was selected as a composer for the Shanghai Orchestra.
In 1985, he embarked on a rough life in the United States, traveling across the ocean alone with 40 US dollars. After a "complete transformation", he obtained a master's degree in composition and a doctorate in art education; he won the first prize in the Mark Brunswick Youth Composition Competition in New York twice (1990, 1991); Carnegie Hall's personal concert (1992), Carnegie Hall's "Romantic Piano" concert (2000).
Charity is his original intention. On the first anniversary of May 12, 2009, he organized a concert of works with more than 100 participants in the disaster area, and was hailed as a "people's musician"; "People's Daily" (Overseas Edition) (2009.6.2) reported extensively: "Dong Rongcan-A Chinese American with a Chinese heart". In 2005, he donated the "Shanghai Pudong New Area Xiuying Nursing Home" in the name of his mother.
On December 1, 2015, the world "Red Ribbon Day", he produced the musical "Love and Life" at a charity performance at Shanghai Daning Theater.
Over the years, Mr. Dong has led the US-China Cultural and Art Exchange Association to complete hundreds of projects and passionately promoted cultural exchanges between the East and the West.
In the busy world, he never forgets his original intention as an artist and has created more than 100 songs with beautiful and touching melodies, which he recorded as 9 albums at his own expense; he has also created and played hundreds of romantic and moving piano pieces. Only with a kind and honest love can a musician write such pure and beautiful songs.
